Dismiss Traffic Ticket Worries

Getting pulled over and cited for speeding, red light camera offenses or other moving violations is a stressful event for many drivers. In these situations, a person may be frazzled and may forget a lot of details about the experience that could help them later, if only they had calmly surveyed their situation. However, by taking a deep breath and a proactive approach at the scene, you may be able to arm yourself with the information you need to fight a citation and dismiss traffic ticket worries.

If you are ever pulled aside for a traffic violation, take a few minutes to assess the scene for yourself and make note of your surroundings during your stop. Your observations could be useful to your attorney in his/her efforts to convince the court to dismiss traffic ticket fines on your behalf.

First, get the general lay of the land to see if there are obstructions that may have blocked the officer's view of your vehicle. Is traffic especially heavy, or are there construction projects going on nearby, or was their heavy fog, snow or rain? Are there high fences, dense vegetation or bends in the roadway that make viewing the scene difficult?

If you were pulled over for speeding but were driving safely for the conditions, note this. Make note of other motorists and what they were doing. If there were other cars that were also speeding near you, it is possible the officer's radar/laser took someone else's speed. As soon as possible after the stop, jot down as many of these observations as you can remember. Write down other details you recall, even if they don't seem significant at the time: people standing nearby, the makes and models or nearby cars, the language the officer used to describe your infraction, what you were doing, witnessing or thinking just before the office pulled you over, etc. Provide this information to the attorney representing you.
